GOP Rep Steve King was quoted very recently with this remark : KING: When the legislation that passed in the farm bill that says that it’s a federal crime to watch animals fight or to induce someone else to watch an animal fight but it’s not a federal crime to induce somebody to watch people fighting, there’s something wrong with the priorities of people that think like that.
Well Mr. King, that is because humans have the free will to choose if they want to engage in combat. They can go to training facilities, and learn to fight properly. Animals do not have this option. Humans when competing in sports such as boxing, wrestling and MMA are under regulation, have referees, doctors at ringside, and padded gloves. Animals do not have any of these things. Humans when competing realize it’s a sport and do not fight to the death. They understand that it’s a game or competition. Animals do not realize theses things. Animals by instinct fight for survival and to kill. Or at the very least maim one another. What really strikes me is that a man in your position and who’s political party is so quick to send young people off to war to be killed would even have the nerve to say such a thing. You and ones like you have no problem sending young men and women to be shot, blown to pieces and destroy others, and then have the audacity to say “it’s not a federal crime to induce somebody to watch people fighting” Like you give a damn.
It is obvious to me that Mr. King has probably participated in animal fights at some time in his life. Otherwise he would not have been so quick and callous in his remarks. I think investigations into his past activities should be done. A “person” (and I use the term loosely) that is as cold and uncaring should not sit in a position of power. It is ones like King who take from the less fortunate and give to the ones who already have. It’s ones like him who strip away money for health care, education, and children’s well beings. It’s ones like him who turn blind eyes to innocents like kids, the elderly and AND animals suffering. It’s ones like him who are so quick to throw our soldiers into war and sit back to watch the world suffer. As long as his life isn’t disturbed. How does all that have anything to do with animal fighting you may ask? Because it’s like Ghandi said once: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” It’s pretty clear that Steve King’s morals are questionable.
